Well shutdown isnt an app or something so ofcourse you cannot find it.
Imagine opening the file explorer and searching for shutdown? -
Konsole30496y@Codex404 That search isn't for files. It searches everything ranging from apps, files settings etc. And power options should be in it. Every Linux DE I have seen till date does it.
And it is a minor inconvenience to click on the power icon then click shutdown, instead of just searching and pressing Enter like I normally do -
@Konsole its easier to click three times when holding a mouse otherwise pressing,WIN, Tab space down down with keyboard does the deal.
I know the search is not just for files. Its also apps. And the settings are an app.
Shutdown is not an app. -
Konsole30496y@Codex404 power options should come under settings. And it is a bit inconvenient to remember another shortcut to poweroff my computer.

I remember how shocked I was when I couldn't type in ping into the search bar anymore but I think they fixed it now

Here is a collection of all the wallpapers that I use.
Contains this one too

@kescherRant If executed without arguments, it will not shutdown the PC so it doesn't help listing shutdown.exe in the search.
-
gitlog57636y@sbiewald those applications run from start menu also have some default arguments I believe
-
potata14776y@Konsole To be fair with you - even mac doesn't have that option by default :) If you use spotlight and search for sleep/shut down/lock - it won't show up. I had to use a custom app for spotlight (which is supposed to be the search on mac) and only then - got those options as they are custom....
ps. Haven't read all of the comments, damn a lot of them :D -
Is anyone else bothered that there's no confirmation for shutdown? Sometimes I accidentally click it... π

Konsole30496y@KushagraKarira I do use manjaro as my primary OS. But have to boot into Windows every now and then...
That's why it sucks. I have become used to pressing the windows button, search for shutdown/sleep/restart and just press Enter... -
Konsole30496y@KushagraKarira Though I certainly wouldn't mind an Ubuntu disc delivered to my house
-
potata14776y@dontbeevil Well, the apple doesn't get blamed by their fanboys :) Since I'm not one of them - I even have a couple of rants on them...

Parzi86636yWin7's search bar thing could invoke any EXE on path instantly, switches and all! (Any EXE can, but unless it's on PATH it's not really efficient and you have to wait for the EXE to be found or it just opens an Explorer window.)
Win10 can suck a fat one.
(BTW, the Run prompt is still invokable via Win+R, just use that!) -
neriald14456yTo my experience win10 search is really random every morning I type bluetooth to the search and 3/5 times it takes me to the bluetooth settings as I want it to but other 2 times it takes me to store to download “bluetooth analyzer”...

Searched "Shutdown" and Windows recommends me to install 2 different apps or make a web search for it instead of an option to shutdown my PC.
If this is the kind of "AI" Microsoft is making, I think we should be concerned π
