I hate Apple since they dropped OpenGL and Nvidia support. My question to them:

Fuck Nvidia, those greedy bastards are worse then Apple.

As for opengl it’s deprecated by Apple since a year.
Vulkan have already api to work with Metal using moltenvk and it is much faster then opengl so I am happy that they push forward instead of fucking with 25 year old product.

Someone finally got guts to cut this shit and move forward. And as always it was Apple.

The result will be that engines will adapt vulkan faster, games would increase in performance and nobody will thank Apple to cut this shit.

Instead everyone will thank Microsoft and their employees that are already laughing reading posts about opengl and Apple when cashing their DirectX.

What people forgets is that apple does not make computers, they make their own hardware/software platform where they will impose their interests, which happens to be a computer.

If you don't like what the OS does,you can install another one and keep buying their hardware for at least 1.5 times what the hardware would cost if it wasn't apple branded.

So, stop whining, use your brain.

Not all devs are going to lick apple balls and make a game using a different api just for them.

It’s for Metal. OpenGL is mostly for rendering, whereas Metal allows you to perform computations on the hardware. Though it would have been nice had Apple not dropped OpenGL AND OpenCL.

Because opengl will be sooner or later dropped and both unity and unreal support vulkan right now. All new graphic cards support it.

It’s cross platform. And it even runs on nintendo switch.

Even playstation announced it will support it.

The only one who don’t want it right now is Microsoft cause they put lots of money to directx and don’t want to loose gamers to other platforms like linux or mac.

We can have truly cross platform graphic language but no let’s fuck up world like we always do.

Apple is in my opinion company that push. Same is AMD or Google.
Those companies drop support for technology or even whole products to create something better - the last one is not always true but we are just people and make mistakes.

Nvidia, Intel and Microsoft don’t give a fuck because they have lots of users and money they don’t want to loose.
