3 days in... 5hrs of total sleep time, great start

Yeah, don't. Get some good sleep, you'll be much more productive overall.

You *think* you're being more productive by staying up longer, but your productivity over time drops exponentially.

Sleep is a good investment of time

@endor for some reason I can function with 1h of sleep and still get an average of 3-5 tasks done per day at work (I also get 3-5 tasks done when I sleep 9 hours), I just switch to something like a different mode of operation - I forget almost all my needs for the next 4 hours and complete my tasks in the 4 hours... then turn into a zombie... but I've completed my work for the day so no one cares.

@bytecode it can work like that for a short-term burst, but it's not sustainable in the long run.
Doesn't matter how resistant you might be - sleep deprivation, stress, and burnout will fuck you up in the long run, hard.

Some people start showing the signs after weeks, others can hold on for months. Some can even last years, before they hit their non-return point - I know I did, without even realizing it.
And the longer you accumulate, the worse it will be when you finally break - or when you finally *realize* that you broke long ago.

Speaking as someone currently trying to get out of this hell: do not underestimate this danger.
Do everything in your power to stay as far away as possible. Only pain and misery can be found on this path.

@endor Unfortunately, most seem to need to experience it firsthand otherwise they don't believe you on the matter. That and the fact that some people try to associate not sleeping with being cool...

Sleep is for the weak, you can sleep when you're dead
