Worst thing about having internet during your holiday is receiving Slack messages.

Do people honestly expect that I’m gonna help fix their problem while I’m sitting at the pool?

go to your phone notifications settings
Turn off the notifications for everything work related.

Set a calendar reminder to the end of your holiday to put the notifications back on.

Did you travel somewhere beautiful? 🙂

By the way, could you have a look at ticket #283? Not sure what those classes are for

@heyheni That or even turning off your work phone.

@alexbrooklyn, those are legacy classes made by the original developer of the project, who stopped working here in 1997. They don’t do anything but if we remove them the project breaks.

There is a reason for being in touch with coworkers during holidays. Fear that they can screw things when you are away.

@mt3o If I'm on holiday, that does not concern be at all.
You're not supposed to be a hero saving everyone and everything no matter how fire the situation is. The other employees should be able to handle the situation on their own.

@Jilano I'm concerned about MINE emotional well-being, not some else's. If someone blows up and I must clean after them - it's easier to get that message.
Actually I just had this kind of situation and prevented other team from implementing shitty API i'd had to maintain.

I was on holiday a few weeks back, 3 days before I got back I got a text message from someone relaying a message from HR that I needed to go in and say "hi" to a client that was in that day. They were informed that I was 2000 miles away and that it would be a few minutes before I could do that.
