Do you wear a wristwatch? For style or confidence? I have a problem wearing one. It gets in the way as I type on my keyboard. Or am I wearing it wrong?

    No, stopped using one almost 30 years ago. There was always a public watch around, and then the cellphone came ;)

    I wear a TicWatch C (silver) with a leather band. Looks good and is functional.

    A watch for confidence? Is there something I don't know?

    I wear a wristwatch for functionality and occasionally for style

    @netikras You don't feel empowered when wearing one? like James Bond type empowerment or confidence. I feel good wearing one but gets in the way when I type.

    I wear for style and functionality. It makes me look good but the watch I wear has a compass on it. Apparently using the hour hand and the sun to give you a heading on the wristwatch is a nice survival trick that I didn't know about.

    @agentQ no and I don't see how could one have more confidence with a watch...

    Does a white shirt have the same effect on you? Black shoes? I think Bond was wearing them too

    @netikras Well... yeah. Wearing a nice cardigan has some effect. I guess this sort of effect only works on some people. I like to think of it as RPG equipment giving me +1 Charisma. But that's me.

    @agentQ I see. I guess I simply do not need to boost my confidence - I have enough of it :)

    when you are homeless, jobless, carless and alone in an alien city and claw yourself out of that pit it grows your skin thicker and makes decisions firmer :) no need for a watch or smth

    I have a Fitbit charge.
    I don't wear it for style, it's black 🤷‍♂️

    It's just to remind me to walk around more, I'm a lazy dev, and I'll sit and code for hours... (12+) but that thing complains and vibrates enough to get me up and do something for 5 min.

    Handy for calendar reminders and meetings, don't need to pull my phone out to see "you have a meeting in 5 min at this location"

    I wear watch because I like the hand movement flip when you check the time. Its more like a habit type of thing, or a soothing motion. Also its easier to check time than pulling phone out of pocket. But yeah when at work I usually take it off. It does get uncomfortable for wrist while programming when the hand is on table and pressing on strap or buckle.

    @Nanos Its not too big. I had a smaller watch before so I don't think that plays. I rest my arms on the table as I type my keyboard. I wear my watch on my left and I use my right to control the mouse. Checked that my height to type is just right. I have a rubber silicone strap for the watch but somehow it feels like its holding my left wrist off the table. This feels weird because of my right wrist isn't. I did try loosen and tighten my strap, neither helped and became more bothersome than helpful.

    I wear a Gear 2, mostly at night as a sleep sensor and silent alarm in the morning.

    I usually take it off as soon as I get to a keyboard, same as most people here apparently. Usually for me it's because it tends to snag against the border of the keyboard or table, depending on where I am.

    @irene OMG that's the hairiest women arm I've seen. 😂

    @Nanos I left mine at home today. I'll post a pic when I find a stock image equivalent to my annoyance but still wants to wear a wristwatch. Otherwise, I'll photo one in use when I get home.

    @Nanos I think you're right! I guess I'm not wearing the right watch for what I do. Time to go shopping again ahaha

    @agentQ am I wrong?

    @C0D4 sorry the desktop app crashed. My original comment was, its possible that @irene may not be a woman. And I was right. Anonymity is everywhere.

    @irene i know that.....

    @agentQ yes anonymity can be a painful thing at times.

    Generally only find myself wearing one whenever I'm going somewhere. If I'm working I can just see a clock on the PC, or on the wall, or on my phone etc. In public it looks much more professional to wear a wristwatch - especially at events

    Used to take off the wristwatch for typing. In the course I lost two already and decided to no longer invest over 100€ for them if I lose them all the time. - so it's Mi band now for me.

    Here's my watch strap. I'm guessing it's not a comfortable strap since I complained. But it's a watch my wife got me 😅

    @Nanos you really know your watches. Ok I'll see if I can swap the strap. Thanks!

    I wear a Fossil explorist 4.

    My previous watches:

    Fossil Q 2.0
    Pebble Time

    All of them are great watches, and look great too.
