cho-uc19625yYeah, me too. I learn faster by reading than by watching videos.
I also like to read while waiting (for bus, appointments) so switch to watching videos in public is not comfortable for me. -
witcher325yI was thinking - partially to help my messed up teenage brain focus on learning - I should start posting text versions of those stupid video tutorials for every major programming thing I like.
For example, Godot, the game making engine. Real cool, but I can't learn it by video.
No, I'm not making money off this:) -
pokergirl-28123dI completely understand your frustration with the trend of turning every bit of information into a video. It can be really annoying when you need quick, precise information and are forced to sit through lengthy videos. At the same time, maybe we're just not fully embracing necessary changes? Idk.
Don’t you think video can often be essential, and sometimes it's better to watch a video than to read and imagine? You know what I mean, right? Plus, high-quality, well-edited content can make a big difference. I watched a few explainers yesterday made by Bluecarrot Studio https://bluecarrot.io/ and I was impressed. Even though my preferences lean toward text, some videos, like the ones I mentioned, make me reconsider if I'm being too conservative.

I hate this trend of making a video out of every bit of information or tutorial you can find. Videos are slow, I cannot properly skip forward to the part I need and the people making these videos are hellbent on not editing out their mistakes to "be more genuine" or something fucking stupid like that.
I want some good old text-based guides. I want docs, READMEs and the like. I don't want to hear you coughing and spitting on your ultrawide monitor for 30 minutes only to find out what I need to know is in video 4 of your ongoing paid series.
