@12bitfloat keep to the strict ANSI Escape Codes then? Or you could possibly rely on termcap or whatever it's called. I'd highly recommend ncurses though.

@pk76 @12bitfloat ncurses has afaik the best access to the console. its a c api, so you can work on a low level or an os-indipendent high level

Is there are standardized api for manipulating text terminals on linux distros? Something similar to win32's consoleapi.h
Or is there a library that provides such an api?
