Some marketing people make it really hard to use legal solutions...

No Ads on iOS premium 🤔
Here's hoping that's not a view of my future.

I got an ad like five consecutive times that I open the app today. This is some bullshit

    Guys... And girls...

WTF that's Spotify telling you that they now support podcasts for those companies. That's not advertisement....

It's the same them telling you that your rewind 2019 playlist is ready.

Isnt premium supsed to stop 'em from showing app?

@Raq74 if @fuckwit is right then, it's not an advertisement m per se, but a notification about their podcasts - kinda an ad, but at least not 3rd party.

It's not ads, it is "recommendations" 🙄

Spotify also FUCKING SUCKS on playing audio books. There is NO FREAKING option to jump to the chapter where you left off.

I actually cancelled and uninstall Spotify yesterday because I got four unskippable 30 second ads back-to-back.
  • 0
@fuckwit you can do that without popups.

They already plaster podcasts all over your home screen, pop ups aren't any better.
  • 1
@fuckwit just because it's available to me for no additional charge doesn't mean they aren't literally showing me a fucking pop-up ad for a product I have absolutely no interest in. It's an advertisement by every definition.

I haven’t seen or heard an ad on Spotify for years

Thats no ad, thats just promoting a new feature

@AlgoRythm damn do we have to make up problems now??

Just klick on dismiss and it will not display that ever again.

This is definitely a non issue. There are far greater issues with Spotify.
  • 1
@fuckwit I don't have any other issues with Spotify. Except the fact that they aren't delivering the ad free experience I pay for.

"Just click dismiss on the ads"

    @fuckwit they're promoting a third party's podcast. That's an advertisement.

Not that it would be good, but at least just be like "hey look we have podcasts" and then send it to the podcasts page.

@Stuxnet they are promoting their new news podcasts section and have some 'relatable pictures' on there. The ones shown are probably the most 'fitting' for the regions he's in.

I got that same ad (as you call it) with local German news sources a while ago.

@AlgoRythm well then go on and complain about Spotify telling you that your favorite band is on tour in a city near you. With your description that would be an ad as well.

Or that an artist you liked has released a new song/album.

Or your mix of the week for having songs you have no interest in. They could be ads if you still think that Spotify promoting its news section once is an ad too.

@Stuxnet they are not promoting one but showing many. If he would have clicked he would have seen a playlist with many news podcasts from different sources.

@fuckwit it's a full page pop-up of content I don't want in FRONT of my actually desired content. How is that comparable, in your mind, to non-full screen notifications about content I do want to see? I mean, the new song/ albums are listed on a separate row below my heavy rotation. And again, I want to see that content. And the tours thing isn't even displayed anywhere, I need to go to the artist page and select the tours button, which is under their most popular songs.

It's a fucking ad. And it hasn't been once. It has happened a few times now.

And get the fuck off devRant if you can't handle a rant!

@AlgoRythm well if you think it's an ad then go ahead and complain, open a case whatever.

Getting triggered about a pop-up (informing you of new content) that maybe Spotify puts every 3 months (if at all) is childish.

If you can't handle feature pop-ups then get the fuck off Spotify please.

This is my last comment on your 'Problem'

tbf, it would be a better design choice to make this into a non invasive info banner

I'm glad Deezer doesn't do that.
