damn2695yStill on 8, moving to 11 slowly, I think now Oracle has decided to release a version every 6 months

InteiJ report about Java 11 vs. 12: "No New language features"
-
Why did Oracle change the release cycle? They found out that, in contrast to other languages, it was to hard to develop new language features (and that they are getting used by devs) if a new version is only released after two years (or so) with support times of five years (or so).
Now, they will release a new one every year (or so) with support only shortly the release of the next one.
On a side note, Oracle charges now for support if companies want to have a bit longer support or want to use Oracle JRE at all. -
I'm too afraid of my good old 1.7.10 minecraft forge server and client with ~200 mods not running properly on java 9+.👀
-
@Weon i won't call it maintaining. More like having it running for when i want to play. So my computer doesn't need to generate all the stuff.
It's an on/off relationship between me and the well known setup, for good 3-5 years now. x) -
sleek34575yim on 8 mostly because of javafx. got so manny errors that ddnt exist before when i tried it on 11 coz they decided to seperate it

aerendyl245y@srivmanu actually php, it's lame but I need it for a while, but my side projects are always python.

teapot965yMost of the components migrated to 8 just in last couple of months. But still have two on java 7. In fact one of them was released today being compiled on 7 🤐. On the other hand actually using java 8 features is very slow in the team 😑

srivmanu1545yI'm really glad that I'm not the only one.
First things first. Python projects get rebased first... Jan 1 deadline!
