bryceleo1975yThis sounds like how excited I was installing Mandrake to dual boot with Windows 98 way back in the day 😂
Mazel tov! -
bryceleo1975y@metamourge I have never heard of classifying an os by init system rather than kernel

@bryceleo
That a longtime joke about how systemd tries to control every aspect of your system, while being worse than established alternatives in every way. -
fuckwit12165y@metamourge well sadly that's not a joke but reality. We internally have a "Days since the last systemd fuck up" we were at -3 one day and there is no single week without encountering a problem.

bryceleo1975y@metamourge ahhh ok. I only do the barest minimum of sysadmin work. Desktop Linux has gotten so point and click it's been a dream just getting to use it rather than get stuck working on it

@shoop nah me too! I like both Windows and Linux though. And guess what? Shit happens on Linux too, although most linux fans don't seem very willing to admit that.

REXTON2465yI found KDE to be very buggy for me... I think the nvidia drivers might be the issue... For now I've settled with Linux Mint cinnamon edition which works incredibly well for my needs... If I were to describe it I'd say its an unbloated Ubuntu

No annoying and redundant programs that are not quitable anymore.
It is like having a rooted phone. I am the god and not Microshit.
I am free. It feels so relaxing.
Sure, while setting this new system up, I broke a lot of things (even with years of preknowledge on linux servers), but I finally managed to finish it.
