This just in as a change request from a customer:

"$CUSTOMER has requested to change the middle image of the invitation email from a male of color to a caucasian female to better match their demographic."

Wow.

    Dear $CUSTOMER,

We all came out of Africa. Also, my mother was hurt by your insinuation that she was a man. She's a strong, beautiful woman who was kind enough to model for our emoji. Please be more considerate in the future, we are people, not robots.

Is it possible that the target demographic is women and the change in skin colour was accidental?

Off topic: What exactly does "person of colour" even mean? Is that just a supposedly "nicer" term that munches together black, hispanic, native American, Indian, etc. (basically all ethnicities with a skin tone in the ranges of brown?). Or is it only used for actual African-Americans? Sincerely, a confused European.

    @don-rager
It's the new all encompassing term for "not white."

@don-rager change in skin color was not accidental at all, it launched this way almost a year ago now and they've used it for close to a year. It's entirely a non issue because that piece of the product has driven user engagement up 3x across customers with the same demographics and with different demographics.

Fun fact it's also clearly not a male in the original illustration!

Well... You wouldn't advertise kindergarten with pictures of grandma.

It's almost like white women don't exist!
Surely all images of them are racist, and sexist if they feature white men instead. 🤔

Seriously, how is that request racist?
    Because it mentions skin colors?

@AppleLover Yep. Haven't you been paying attention? "It's okay to be white" is apparently racist and horribly offensive to non-whites. Advertising, tv shows, and movies should always have more "diverse" cast members than white ones, even when it isn't correct for the location or time period. Also, laws that treat whites and non-whites the same are racist; they must treat the minorities better because reparations and inclusivity and political correctness.

    Isn't it great?

Depends on whether the customer wants to advertise bullet-proof vests or sun block cream.

@Root don't forget reparations from and to people who have no relation to a traumatic event for an entire race but like
"oh lol we were slaves 200-300 years ago, guess we deserve money now lol"
