Does it ask you to immediately change password during first login?
If yes, nothing wrong here. -
wannabe5325y@NoToJavaScript typically, when you register an account, it's with a password.
I assume your talking about a one-time passwords, which would be super strange as a registration mechanism. Password recovery or account lockout, sure, but registration? Would be weird imo. -
@wannabe Office 365 uses it.
When you add a new user to your company, you have a choice to send them email or define it yourself.
It is not the best way (I like the link where user can finish registration), but it is not necessarily bad or not secure. -

When you create your own account, I agree, you shouldn’t receive your own password by mail -
