It's weird that devRant, being a developer-centric platform, doesn't support `preformatted text`.

I just want to put `code` in backticks and stupid code snippets in triple backticks.

I think it's high time we adopted markdown. Can someone please take this issue #27 up from 2017? It's 2020 FFS!

I agree with @TheKarlisK , this is a platform for ranting, hence the name, it's not a support platform.

@theKarlisK @Ranchu but who's talking anything about looking at code?

Yes, I know some people might abuse the formatting options for support, but then don't you think you'd want to say I `cat this` and then it blew up in my face.

I just put it in my last rant and it didn't work, that's why I ranted about it.

don't you think the use of backticks in https://devrant.com/rants/2450484/... is a valid use-case?

@erroronline1 no, I don't want syntax highlighting or anything fancy of that sort. I just want basic backtick compatibility. Just pre-formatted text - that's all I'm asking for.

if required, limit it by the number of words that I can enclose with a since backtick blocks. I wouldn't want more than 5 words within the block at all

some people ( from the issue ) say they want bold and italics. I could live without those too.

    This is devRant not StackOverflow.
This is a place to digress ones frustrations, showing code and requesting assistance isn't part of the experience.

That's why we have our good friend @highlight who is very handy for such situations, if used right he can even be a wise man.

That would be nice. Richly formatted rants. But it would take away the simplicity of the app.

@theKarlisK I wouldn't mind code in rants. In fact, I'd prefer it.
