Don't worry about it, he's most likely not suffering from the lack of a dad, in fact you can't loose what you didn't have, so for him being 1 at the time, he doesn't know.
But I'll bet if he has kids, they will never know what it's like not to have a dad.
Source: I was 2, I could walk right into the guy and wouldn't know him from a bar of soap in a prison block.

Every time I think about how I at least had a dad till 10-11 years old, i think about my brother. How he had a dad until he was only 1, and by the time he turned 18 years old, when he could finally go see him, his dad was dead. And whenever the subject comes up its always "I didnt even know him bro. Why would I be upset?"
And it kills me inside he'll never know what it feels like to have a dad.
Sometimes I drink to stop thinking of shit like this.
