So saying "STFU I have work to do!" and then failing to close the zoom app is not appropriate?

Imo its a signal that you're leaving. In a normal meeting a colleague can still talk to you once you start leaving the room. And everyone understands that if they still need to tell you something, this is their chance until you leave.

With video calls if you just close the call you essentially made it impossible for anyone to still stop you. But if you wave, they know its still their chance. For the duration of the wave.

Because as @Hazarth pointed out, ninja-logging is impolite.
