Random: What kind of music do you listen to when working?

I'm sure a lot, if not most folks on this website have headphones on while coding.

I use headphones to attend Zoom meetings

Gone are those days when I used to listen to music while working

Anymore, a large portion of my day is live coding. I just teach my people constantly and contribute to various bits in the process. Hasnt left a lot of dead air to fill with music.

Pop, J and K-Pop mostly. But there is metal, electro and many other generes sprinkled in.

It's always funny when the Panzer lied, britisch grenadier or the final solution starts playing and I give the classic, sabaton fan a heads up while he listens to the Preussische Gloria.

I tend to listen to something that's good but not too good or catchy so that I start concentrating on the music instead. Lately that's meant some I-taste-colors kind of trippy psych rock like Ozric Tentacles or some Polish black metal...

@LotsOfCaffeine come to think of it, during the last few weeks before my holidays started I actually went to the office, and since there were only a few of us present, we made a common playlist to blast while working. It seemed to mostly have EDM, hardbass, psych rock, synthwave, krautrock and metal on it, most of the latter black metal.

Nothing with lyrics. Has to be purely instrumental.
And only even then when I’m doing something simple/tedious.

Lately, 8 hour days with headphones on, and just a shit tonne of back to back meetings at times.

It's made it to the point I stopped turning the music off and just have it down low.

Indie rock. Although lately I started working so much that it became exhausting, so I don't really listen to music while working anymore.

I listen to stand up comedy, mostly George Carlin, gets me laughing through the pain.

I prefer the sound of silence.

Coding music... well, depends on my mood, whether I listen or not.

When I do listen to music while coding, however, the genre varies quite a bit. When getting into "the zone", I prefer a nice fast rhythm with a steady beat; goa, psy, trance. No lyrics! Other times, when I'm in "mixed mode", e.g. with getting questions from right and left, various pop, rock and metal works a treat.

And then there's those odd moments, when I listen to radio. With news and all that. Doesn't happen often, but it happens when I want to shield myself from the immediate world, but not fancy listening to anything in particular.

My personal experiment asserts that I cannot concentrate with music whiel in building, but I enjoy it on the streets. My hypothesis is it's because of air consumption increasing from me trying to make beats while listening to music, and as you know air conditioning is different everywhere. :)
