    "Tonga. next pointless question."

    Careful with these questions. Chances are they don't actually care what football team you support, so what are they aiming to get out of that question?

    It's probably to see how you'd deal with a light-hearted, non work related topic. If you act like an arse while answering it, it doesn't give them much confidence in hiring you.

    Unless something ridiculous happens or they're being wholly unprofessional throughout, an interview is where you do your utmost to get them to like you so you can get a job offer. At that point you reflect and decide whether you actually want the job - not in the interview off the back of an ad-hoc unexpected question.

    @AlmondSauce You're right....

    Although I really hate such screening questions...

    In Scotland which team you support actually means are you catholic or protestant. People get stabbed on the street for answering 'incorrectly'. I forgot to mention that

    @IntrusionCM I hate them too. If I got loads of them and they were clearly ridiculous, it'd certainly weigh into my decision as to whether to take the job, if I were offered it.

    But the time & place to be sarcastic and act like a smartass isn't an an interview. The little kick you'll get from it won't make up for the feeling if you decide you really wanted that job after all, but you wrecked your chances by answering a question that way.

    @lechuckles ... oh great...

    In that instance I would not have accepted the offer. Far too loaded a question, I waited for a good moment and left.

    The right answer is:

    "In accordance with GDPR and privacy protection laws I will not disclose this sensitive personal information to a third party"

    @Hazarth not sure those laws apply here. Discrimination laws would.

    @lechuckles
    You're a rangers fan aye? *sharpens knife.

    Haven't seen a lot of stabbings in Glasgow recently. There was the refugee dude, but he had mental issues.

    Two old friends both have face scars, glad it is getting better. Living in fife most arguments are about livestock

    You get a ++ for being local peeps

    @lechuckles
    I get half a + for being part time local 🥳

    The correct answer here is I don't watch or care for it.

    There is a strong correlation between football lovers (watchers not players) and stupidity.
    The more they live it the more they go "LuLu Lulu lu lu" and other deeply meaningful lyrics.
