In the interest of "efficiency" and "low overhead", I've decided to make my computer boot to a tty login, start X manually each time, my window manager being openbox (no panels or nothing)

    Looks like the setup we had on a micro vax in school. We got a terminal window but no other window manager. You started all other programs from the prompt.

    I owned such a Gateway laptop. Thanks to its AMD processor it would keep me warm in the winter... After keeping it up for over half year, it got permanently stuck on BIOS screen :(
