Why is it that people volunteer on behalf of developers!?? For anything remotely technical!
No we're not a "tool" for you to use! Or a "magic wand" to make your problems disappear! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! -
People get so defensive about their code! Especially, code that becomes redundant. Suddenly, they get all activist type, as if their puppy is being put to death, and come up with the most convoluted of reasons why it is very critical code.2

We're increasingly becoming installers/configurers/integrators/troubleshooters, than "programmers"!
I guess command-line is the only thing that makes me feel like things are still under *my* control. And, I can type whatever I want and unleash heaven/hell. 😜2 -

Can't believe a fellow coder, went and undid the changes I had made in the previous commit! The commit he made is totally unrelated to my changes! Admitted, that he wrote the original code. But, he was not doing a check while adding two columns whether they already existed. That means he'll get an SQL error with the latest version, and has to manually deleted the columns. Again! Why are people so territorial about their code??4

A club I started is doing a photo op with a major newspaper without me, as I'm gonna be out of town, and they have to publish in two days, so photo op needs to be done tomorrow. :-(

It was my first month as a driver developer fresh out of grad school, at a semiconductor company. There was an elusive memory alignment bug that had eluded the experts on the team. Of course, they had to assign it to me.
I was looking at the code where alignment was being calculated for nested structures case. I saw something funny: "size_t(object)". I asked the expert where it should have been "sizeof(object)". And, sure enough it was!!
I was super-thrilled to have fixed a bug in my first month, which had troubled the team for a long time! ^_^6 -
Just got an offer from a startup in India. Guess what? They are *not* going to be offering any equity. And... there's going to be a 6 month probation period!!! :O x-(3
