Wow, I guess that now all the creative and talented developers who can get a job anywhere are already job hunting? I know I would if my company gets all Gestapo like that.
-
I agree. Get the fuck out or you will be squashed by the managers because that is only the beginning. After that they will start to say that you don't work shit because you are not in the office.
-
Lukas18728y@Shadow117 @JohanO You have the same avatars :) Nice rant by the way...leave these neoliberal efficiency obsessed douches!
-
biscuit19128yNo more working from home, stick to your salaried hours and tell them why if they complain
-
zzguy6038yThanks for the support everyone, if I find a company filled with only fellow ranters itd be paradise!
-
johnDoe32338yThen just don't work at home. If they wonder why your progress is falling behind tell them it's because your not working from home anymore. If it means company projects get draw out longer due to this change then they need to understand that. If anything (assuming they understand what this change means for devs like yourself) it means more free time for yourself.

At a company I worked for, whenever we saw pizza...we knew someone was getting laid off.
-
byisk878y@nicnaknic it won't work like that. Such bosses are fucking monsters and treat employers like RESOURCES not people. If you're not good resource, they won't try to help you be better, they would rather to fire you.
Been there :| -
In my experience, companies start treating their employees like shit when the ship is sinking
-
Don't put up with it man! Find someone who appreciates what you bring to the table and who you like to work for! Life is too short to hate your job. And the best time to find a job is when you have a job.
-
johnDoe32338y@byisk ya I get what your saying. I guess just quit the job. Sad thing is, it's not like you could even leave with style by making some cancerous code that crashes the program they are working on. That'll just pain the other devs that work there.
Seriously someone needs to make an app where you can rate your employer (anonymously of course). Kind of like those "Rate your prof" sites that are available for university students. -
johnDoe32338y@kanduvisla I was thinking of something more large scale. Like how trip adviser shows ratings on hotels, residents etc. This would be like;
Company name:
Employer rating:
Comments:
(Maybe include some other fields like address, employer name and list of current/past employers at the company)
The only major problem to an idea like this would be the integrity of people using the app. There's no way to confirm that you worked at a place, so anyone could rate the company. And it's not like companies would sign up to use this service out of fear that they would get a bad rating and not have people apply for their jobs anymore. -
@nicnaknic it would be a nice project. It would be hard to defend against those who just want a company to look bad because it's their competitor.
-
johnDoe32338y@SweetHuman exactly why it's sort of a loss cause. Unless I figured a way to prevent such things and add integrity to the reviews no one would really use it
-
yusijs12508y@Rabb "To see anything please download our free app" how about fuck you you shit site.
-
rrishi2528y@nicnaknic already working on app for that with my friend. And it won't just be for devs but also other fields as well. It about time we have information about these companies sorta like a background check on them.
-
MarkUltra-14ySounds not so good. I believe that such problems could appear because of the wrong way of managing. You can check https://tabulera.com and see how to do that easily. Nothing difficult there, but you could handle employee benefits billing, accounting, reconciliation and so on.
-
No offence, but I hate Glassdoor. They seem not to know how to manage such things. Once you subscribe to them, they start to bombard you with useleff offers.

My company just fired 20 people, and the next day instuted a program so salaried employees have to clock in and out. Of course not to effect our pay, just to keep their paranoid asses breathing down our necks. Also, no clocking in remotely so all the work I do from home won't be taken into account. Fucking micromanaging, ball-licking, scum-fuck, MBA, morons couldn't run a company if their lives depended on it. When will these soul-less, suit-wearing, shit-scarffers learn that treating your employees with respect and valueing actual work over bullshit metrics, is a better business strategy than treating them like fucking sheep to the slaughter. Fml, I gotta find a new job...
