Installed Fedora in a partition on my old Acer laptop having never used Linux before. It's so much faster than Windows 10!

And the terminal is pretty 😍

    Welcome :) if you are using gnome 3 give a try to xfce latter down the road, its a lot faster :))

    I found Acer laptops a lot faster using Windows once you remove all the crappy bloatware they install by default.

    @chrisrhymes I had done but it's not really a fair comparison with all the apps and SDKs I had installed

    @azous Thanks, I'll take a look

    Well it's a fresh install of an OS... Of course it'll be quicker.

    @drRoss Try installing as many programs and packages as you want, it never slows down like windows does...

    I used fedora for a while before switching to ubuntu

    @azous I tried a few desktop environments before settling on xfce. I really like how minimal you can get it once customised.

    @bluesdriven wow, glad I could help :) I like the panel plugins too you can keep an eye on memory, CPU and swap usage, CPU temperature and etc, its super cool. If they are missing you can install with: `sudo dnf groupinstall "Extra plugins for xfce panel"` I thinks that's the name, you can check it with `sudo dnf group info xfce` or something like that, I'm away from my PC now.

    For better looks I like the theme Numix-Ocean-* :) , take a look at zsh with oh-my-zsh as a replacement to bash on the shell, it has some history 'autocomplete' capabilities and really cool customization.

    Check my (poor) zsh theme:

    I just realized its lacking a IMG, gonna update it later.
    :)

    @azous I'm well acquainted with oh-my-zsh on Mac, will check out your theme.

    I'm enjoying having a completely empty desktop at the moment but I'll probably spend a few hours playing around with panels at some point 😁
