I have a graphic design degree. I started coding in my last year at university and hopefully be looking for a dev job in a few months :)
-
@nblackburn I'm self taught in the coding area but obviously I got taught in the graphic design haha need to learn more ASAP to get a job, I hate my day job it's slowly killing me
-
joetj3568yI think it's good to have a little design under your belt, I've designed loads, but am backend for life. In essence, we're all designers

I do adverisment for the biggest supermarket chain in switzerland. It's fun to see my work in the most read newspapers. But I study part time interaction design. Because working in the print industry is not future proof in the long term. After interaction design i want to study programming.

BrianK8448yI'm a front-end developer with a design history. Leaving that behind after this week...
-
BrianK8448y@loumorgsy I'm going to be a full time front-end dev with the opportunity to improve myself. Maybe even some back-end development
-
@BrianK Noticed a lot of designers going into development, curious to know your motives?
-
@nblackburn graphic design is great, but I'm not a fan of print and how pretentious it's become. With developing I can take designs further, bring them to life! And I just really enjoy coding I find it very satisfying

BrianK8448y@loumorgsy if you have to work with a designer make sure his alignment is perfect. Try to make it as good as possible and keep in mind that alignment can make or break a website. Also not forgot to improve yourself. And sometimes do something weird. Let people see you improvise and improve. And make sure you name everything clear in case another dev has to change something in your code. And if something does not work at the end of the day, try it next day.

BrianK8448y@nblackburn once I started as a trainee as front end dev. After my traineeship I started working at the same company. Because the designer left and since I had some skills in Photoshop I was going to make designs. From there I lost some track. But the love of coding stayed. Therefore I quited my job and going to become a full time front end dev from next week

BrianK8448y@loumorgsy no problem. Hope you find some peace and fun in your job. That's important. Thank you very much
