    Do you have experience with pinebook pro laptops?

    I have one, and I love it.

    @Linux what about the 4gb ram. Isn't it a bit small?

    Heh, UBPorts.. I didn't even know that was still a thing, interesting!

    Well, that's Pine64 for you.

    While I like the idea, the implementation suffers from the same problems as any other OSS project. Their phone is less powerful than an entry-to-mid level smartphone from 5 years ago, has a severely limited set of useful apps (sure it supports many Linux apps out of the box, but they suck ass on that small screen with only touch input), and to top it off, they take a huge dump on anyone willing to purchase this product by only providing a 30-day warranty, expecting you to order each product separately, and pretty much stating that you'll likely get a screen with some dead pixels which they won't cover.

    It's not really a mass market product. It's more hobbyist stuff.

    @ZeldaFan69-2

    It is quite perfect for me actually :)

    @Condor

    Yeh I use it as my daily driver :)

    @Linux thanks for the good read.

    I’ve read “period” and I was like: “What do periods have to do with computers, wtf”

    @Linux My PBP has such bad trackpad lag. The lid close doesn’t sleep the machine. I also don’t have the buckets of time to make it work right. I have had less problems with an Asus netbook running Bohdi Linux than the PBP. IMO it should be much better out of the box with Manjaro. I like mine way more in theory than in practical use.

    @hitko
    - True. But look at the price as well and do realize that less than a year ago, we didn't even have a working Linux distro for this phone while we now have basic working distro's with quite some stuff working already.
    - it's an alpha stage device and they try hard to include as much hardware as possible for which FOSS drivers/firmware are available.

    Don't people understand that this isn't consumer ready yet?

    For the record, I'm still awaiting my pre-ordered PineTab and also pre-ordered a Manjaro PinePhone Convergence package.

    PineTime will come soon, too!

    @irene

    You run Manjaro on it?
  • 1
    @Linux Do you have the pinetab by any chance? Pine64 is fucking up the communications hard on the regular shipping :/
  • 1
    @Linux I do. Manjaro was installed when I got it a few months ago. I have all updates.

    @irene

    Oh, that sucks :/

    I just run Debian testing, and I think I have just adapted myself to use the PineBook

    @linuxxx

    I only have the PineBook Pro, but I am thinking about the Pinecil

    It's a community service project and they don't make much money off it, plus the price is ridiculously low for what you get. Why complain?
  • 1
    @Linux It is kind of difficult to use at all when the trackpad always goes 20px past as soon as it registers the input direction.

    I’m guessing you just have a better PBP.

    I complain because I have a useless device because of the keyboard and trackpad.

    @irene

    Yeah, sounds like you got a bad One :(
    Have you tried to reinstall it?

    @Linux I did boot a fresh version from SD and same.
