Stupid conventions for nothing. Just use KB = 1024 exclusively. I don't bother about anything. The only distinction I make is between transfer speedd: MBps vs Mbps

Never heard of kibi .... Just kbyte and bit....
Like internet speex is done in bits so 40mbits (5mbytes) so they can make the number be higher .... so people think bytes ...

I blame all HDD manufacturers and their marketing teams. Their history of trying to make things seem better than they are.

Interesting... I'd use 1Kb for 1000 bits and 1KB for 1024 bytes... but saying "1K" always means bytes. Where are you? Suspect this is a regional thing.
Why are so many people convince that 1kB = 1024B ?
