    Why did you buy it?

    @electrineer

Reason 1. I need to publish to the App Store and I code for iOS in Obj-C or Swift.

Reason 2. I like being the dickhead who dual boots it and then brags about gaming on Mac like a fucking douche.

@HiFiWiFiSciFi Sounds fair, I'll allow it

What do you expect from crapple lol. Uhm, it’s crapple! Apple is crap, you get it? It’s like Crap + Apple = Crapple! Hilarious amirite?

Is that a ubnt dream machine in the background?

@zemaitis This is my second one and I'm looking at buying a "budget" $5000 cheese grater, but now kind of thinking of waiting until Silicon.

In about 6 years I've run this dual boot via Basecamp, I have never had a single hardware/driver/update related problem on either OS.

Apple even (fairly) regularly releases Windows driver updates for their Radeon cards.

@Linux No, Reolink camera. I keep my home security super tight butthole.

@HiFiWiFiSciFi reason one there is a big part of "crap" in "crapple"

@ScriptCoded Yeah, I absolutely do not disagree.

Locking publishing down to their own platform is kind of asshole... but a dev could set up with a Mac Mini for dev for a few hundred bucks. That's actually how I got started with iOS dev.

... and xCode is a fucking travesty and always has been.

... but, that god damn Apple mobile market share tho. Simply cannot be ignored.

You get what you buy... 😅

@uyouthe FYI, your joke is getting real old.

Our problem is that Apple products are marketed to everyone, including professionals that have different expectations than a regular user. A regular user will usually not connect anything to their laptops, which resulted in Apple removing useful ports in order to increase sleekness or whatever bullshit excuse they had.

@theuser FYI, apple is crapple, immutably

@HiFiWiFiSciFi I bought a razer blade after having a Mac for 10 years. It’s so nice to play games on and dual booted to manjaro. I absolutely love it. Only issue I’ve had is overheating on Linux partition in the summer because I can’t figure out how to use the secondary graphics card instead of nvidia one but I’ve not used the manjaro side for a while now. So happy I bought fifa 2021 on it. It also has usb A and C :O it’s the future I’m telling you!!
Defo recommend the razer 👍🏼 bring on cyberpunk 2077

@bashleigh feel I need to note I will absolutely be playing Cyberpunk 2077 on this rig.

(See, I told you I'd brag about gaming on a mac like a fucking douche. :)

@HiFiWiFiSciFi we should compare graphics! I’m interested to see how the Mac handles it! My old Mac struggled with total war three kingdoms! But it was an air 😂

@bashleigh Oh, this is a 4 year old mac... unless your razer is also 4 years old you'd no doubt smoke me in benchmarks.

Still, this old workhorse served me just fine for Skyrim at Ultra with about 50 mods, and though it is admittedly going to run Cyberpunk at probably low-mid graphic settings, it will still run it.

I'm due for an upgrade... and uncle sam keeps throwing money at us... so I'll get back to you for a fair comparison when I'm rocking a more recent mac with a Vega.

@HiFiWiFiSciFi yeaaa I bought it this year sorry I sound like a dick 😂 was just interested to see the difference. Tbf I think my old Mac air did pretty well with city skylines. I think it did better than the razer but haven’t played it enough on the razer.

@bashleigh Don’t feel too bad. You might be pushing those pixels faster... but I suspect I still have a little more real estate.

@HiFiWiFiSciFi nice desk!!! Is it solid oak? I still dunno what screen to get myself 😂 fancy something at 21:9 ratio but not sure if they’re any good. What screens have you got?
  • 1
@bashleigh Thanks. Desk is my own build. 3” thick 30 year aged Scotch Pine live edge.

Monitors are the iMac 5k 27” then two Viotek 27” curved @ 2k.
