Creating PHP Sites in class:

Teacher: Right guys open your DreamWeaver Code

Me: I found it easier to use Sublime, Just need to do the CSS

Teacher: I don't think you can create a style sheet without DreamWeaver

Me: 🙄🙄🖕👏👏👏👍

Ask your instructor if he is really a programmer.

    What...

Personally I hate Dreamweaver. I see it like the worst way to do things..

Sublime for small tasks and huge files, phpstorm for everything else.

    @J-T33 MSC Computer Science apparently

I would ask them if they sincerely believe that. If I even got a hint that they did, I would be talking to the dean of that dept real quick.

I use sublime for my css.

+1 and Props for using Sublime Text. I found it the best editor to do my web related work. Especially love the SFTP and Linter plugin.

That's unacceptable. Sounds like they need to step out of the classroom for a bit and get back in touch with the real world.

does anyone even use dreamweaver (anymore)?

Goes to php websites class. Implements everything in an elixir framework because it's safer and more efficient.

Yeah. Needs real world experience and to transport out of the last millennium.

Coding 101: You're not a real programmer unless you can drag and drop.

Agreed, I haven't used dream weaver in like 12 years. My favorite part about your rant though was your response with all the emotes. I'm still laughing.

I use Coda 2. Cost me $99 but it's well worth it. I've been with Coda since Panic first built it. ❤️

@kanduvisla lol, a few designers use it where I work.
  • 3
how on earth is dreamweaver still a thing?!
  • 1
@kanduvisla there's this one guy I met who does all the websites for a small group of guys in the gun industry who said he uses dreamweaver for his back-end development/log after I asked what server side language he used...he also offered to help me code, which all he knows is xhtml and css2.0

@eraqee Adobe keeps updating a lot of stuff that should probably go away..

dude. yes. I never even heard of Sublime until I graduated. I seriously thought Dreamweaver was a solid dev software... and they still gave me a college degree in programming

    Is this a #TBT to 2001?

I've programmed in Dreamweaver once, and I sat there thinking - "There must be something better than this!", then I found Notepad++, EmEditor, Sublime, Coda, Coda2 and PHPStorm - in that order. I went back to Coda2 though, PHPStorm was really nice, but a bit overkill for my style of development I think.

For me, a person that uses Dreamweaver is not a real developer. Using Dreamweaver is almost the same as using Microsoft Word. Text editors like Notepad++ and Sublime Text can make people think of you a real developer.

I remember trying to explain CSS2 and XHTML to my tutor when I was in school being taught HTML 4 (now I feel old). They were current standards, but she had never heard of them.

Oh, and we were forced to use Dreamweaver too...

Dreamweaver is a convoluted, bloated mess of a program these days. It hasn't been properly updated in over a decade with the same core issues travelling from version to version. However in 2006 it's dreamweaver templates feature was the best out there and it was my primary tool for many years until Wordpress took over. Also despite all the little editors that have superseded it I still haven't found a superior ftp sync tool. For years it was also the best html editor. You could paste word crap into the live view and it would strip out the messy tags and leave you with something usable and not having the tag close until you typed the slash always worked better with my coding style. It did have several decent features caught up inside a buggy pile of rubbish that just kept people coming back. These days I use vscode for basic html jobs.

@rtpHarry Right, but it's weird that the teacher said that you could not create a stylesheet without dreamweaver
