Unpopular Opinion: most devs doing it just for the money are pretty fucking shit at programming and problem solving.

I do it because I like to make screen go blinkyblink. Top reason to be one: you are not scared if printer goes blinkyblink because you know why it makes blinkyblink.

As typical unpopular opinion is ... not unpopular.

Yeah I guess when you do it just for money, there are better jobs for you that pay better.

Some are doing it for the money even if they are good at it.

I mean if it's really just money you're gonna want to get into management. No programming skills required there.

I would definitely not show up at work if they didn't pay me. But at the same time I have no interest in moving up the hierarchy. I'm in it for the money but at the same time I don't want to spend all day doing something I hate. Like talking to managers.

@M3m35terJ05h nope. Being a manager between programmers which could not care less and upper management which demands something from you. It's like being between hammer and anvil and conversing with people too much.

@M3m35terJ05h but why is that. a manager should know what they manage imo. how can you manage devs if you don't even understand what they do.

of course, i mean in the end of the day you do everything just for money. but the question is - would you do it further after work? do you care if you did your 8h and you just stop because it's time? do you actually like it?
