Haha i know that. Had one too. Was heating like Auschwitz with the sound of a landing airplane. But hey you cant fix the fan no, disassemble the whole Thing including mainboard just to get to the Fan. Broke my trackpad like that

ch0s3n1828yGot an HP laptop in 2012 and used it for 3 years. At the end the battery was pretty much completely dead, I felt embarrassed using it in public for how loud the fan was and using it in bed was a definite no-go because of how warm it got.

Every HP I've ever encountered has produced volcanic temperatures while the fans heaved with the sound of a thousand elephants in the midst of childbirth. And the fan is always one of the first things to die in a spectacular manner.

zankar20758yMy current work laptop is a HP aswell. The fan is mostly spinning faster than my hard drive too (dont worry i mailny use the ssd).
You should replace the thermal compound. It should be quite easy. -
I usually agree (had and used HP laptops before), but never had any temperature/ noise problem with my Elitebook
