Not really.. or maybe.. 🤔 I dunno how I have it set up as I rarely open the menu with intention of clicking through it.. I right click for the 'normal' menu if I have to, but usually I just use keyboard shortcuts..
It (full screen menu) annoys the fuck out of me on clients' servers though.. -
Nope. I’m not even using the start menu. Everything that I need frequently is pinned on the taskbar.
For the rare case that I need something else, I just use the search function by pressing windows key and typing until the result that I want shows up. Then I press enter.
Oh and I use the start menu for shutting the PC down (ironically). -
@Lensflare well I like my taskbar to really just include essentials, I want to see at a glance wat is currently running
-
donuts238484yI do. Rationale simple. Start menu one used like 50% of the screen width after that came out... so night as well just use the whole screen... looks better.
-
Still distracting. On GNOME, I don't get so tired of fullscreen menu as I get from Windows 8.
-
I would actully would like to remove start menu.
I only use quick search anyway.
like want to start word ? "win" then "W" then enter. -
@hamido-san nah full tower desktop PC with 3 monitors. I've got several groups of applications in the menu(gaming, path of exile and companion applications, hobby programming, work programming, general administration and office suite) and they all take up the entire main screen, no way the classic startmenu could fit that.
-
@EdoPhoenix Yup, as far as I've seen, your taste in start menu size is pretty unique
-
@EdoPhoenix
Not a critisim, but why ?
I have emty desktop, empty start menu.
All it takes me is to press "win" and tape 1 or 2 letters and hit enter. I don't even look while that. I Assume it will be the right app/game that I want.
Like Battle net : Win + B + enter
Steam : WIN + ST + enter
Skype : Win +S + enter
Word : Win +W+enter
Well, you get the idea :) -
@NoToJavaScript too many apps with similar name, the chance of getting the right application with less than 3 characters is minuscule. PoE apps in particular. Or getting the right visual studio.
-
@EdoPhoenix Ah for visual studio I have "the right" on task bar, so usually right click=> recenet solution
But yeah I get how with too many apps it cam be frustrating.
The best is Microsoft SQL managment studio. This one, whatever I do, never shows in search -
@NoToJavaScript since I got a shortcut to it in the startmenu it will show up in search but uf I remove that shortcut windows won't find it, maybe this info can help you

To my fellow windows users:
Anybody else using the fullscreen startmenu?
I prefer it over the classic one, just using the entire screen to give me quickaccess to programs seems like the better way to me.
