Good Windows reseller hosting plans are hard to find. These guys want to charge me $20 per year just for an extra 1gb of webspace.

Get fucked.

    What a fucking joke

    At the end you should have said "you can help me by shoving those gigabytes up in your arse"

    I would of torn them a new one on live chat.

    Lol. I really felt like telling them to shove their hard drives up their ass. I just can't believe how fucking expensive this shit still is. Like, 1gb should cost something like 0.02¢. Especially when most Shared Hosting plans now have unlimited risk space for just 4.99 per month

    We charge $10 for 10 GB

    20$ per year is not much mate... @Jase

    @DLMousey
    For Windows hosting - No.

    Windows hosting Linux hosting.. pfft whatever. It should not matter. @Linux read my comment above. Many many many WINDOWS hosting providers offer plans that give you UNLIMITED disksoace and bandwidth. These wankers cannot therefore ustify charging RESELLERS TWENTY DOLLARS PER EXTRA GIGABYTE. That is just outrageously stupid, unethical and a rort.

    @Jase
    Stop complaining and move to thoose that are cheaper then.
    Unlimited storage on shared hosting is stupid,

    @DLMousey It could be an option. I haven't explored it yet for reselling, but have used it as a customer for my own sites in the past. Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't even think of Azures reselling platform.

    @Linux you're telling me to stop complaining on a service dedicated to just that? Time to speak with your doctor about upping your meds, I think. :/

    What about... Linux hosting, with Windows VMs?
  • 1
    @tahnik Seriously, even selfhosting under a lot of load is less expensive in this case :D

    @Linux it really is full of juniors in here

    @vortexman100 ever thought about how secure this is? Do you make an offshore backup once in a while?

    Everyone arguing over one of many details. For all I know he has unlimited bandwidth and backups with unlimited mirroring. Also, many providers charge a premium on storage because you're more likely to use more of the bandwidth you're already paying for. Some providers don't make money on their cheap base plans and strive to make a buck on upgraded resources.

    I pay ~$200/mo for baremetal, which is a steal considering the backbone. Even with my server on the other side of the country my pings are comparable to Google's servers (higher, but nothing I can do with the server that far away). 1GB of storage costs me close to $10/yr, but it's blazing fast.

    go mono/postgresql on a unix then

    @Neotelos
    Totally aggree,
    Kids seems to forget that companies that offer hostservices need to pay their rent, taxes, salaries, more taxes, electricity, backups, their ISP, some DDOS protection, for maintenance of hardware and software. And that is not all..

    That being said, thoose 20$ per year propably is enough to finance a few seconds of that companys stuff.

    But kids will always be kids

    @jerjer It is secure enough. Offside backups everyday (I mean, this few files arent a problem)
