How the fuck do people decide between AWS / GCloud or literally anything

    Coin flip. Then just get stuck in.

    Or, more likely, based on whether you hate Google more than Amazon.

    One thing’s for sure...nothing in this business is ever based on facts and analysis.

    Some Dev or Manager goes "use X"

    Several years later, someone else decides "Y" is better, so everyone attempts to recreate the infrastructure and workload in "X" and port it to "Y" with a fuck tonne of changes and downtime.

    Then someone else comes along and goes, why are we using "Y", "Z" is cheaper and we already have contracts with that company for other things, so again everyone migrates over to "Z" and suddenly you have a multi cloud clusterfuck of applications spread out and no one knows where anything is or what it does anymore.

    So.... yea flip that coin, and head down the path of never ending bullshit.

    I'm just waiting for the day I have 1 project spread across multiple clouds for different services, that will be the end of me 😔

    @C0D4 This is the way.

    It is never ending bullshit with only aws.

    Too many ppl are allowed to spin up aws instances manually, and never spin them down.

    hmm.. choose whatever that does the job and argue that its the best if someone questions. planning for the possible arguments is the hard part.

    Just choose whatever is most popular in the industry right now. That way you can list it as a skill if the need to find a new position arises.
