For those who hate to like PHP. I have an issue. Character encoding.

A semicolon ' is replaced by ’

A fullstop . is replaced by ' Â

Any ideas?

I'd look at the encoding the file is saved with first, or maybe a html header with weird encoding or browser settings.

Just to be clear. This is the exact situation am facing. There is data in a database and it is outputed as json as some point. However something happened and special characters are replaced by funny characters as indicated in my initial post. Trying to check with phpmyadmin, seems it's in the database.

@Artemix Some tables collation is utf-8-general_co and others is Latin. Db collation is utf
