Worked nights and weekends for a month to launch v1 of a fixed cost client project(ie, we lost money). Launched it successfully with a few 15 hour days at the end. Three days later the client tells us they are outsourcing the rest of the work to India.

Completely felt spurned like I worked super hard to impress a girl and then she ran off with some other guy.

That sucks, I appreciate the hard work you have put in if that helps? :)

I understand your feelings. I would feel the same.
Unfortunately, it happens in business. It is a learning experience and it could happen again.
Often, outsourcing does not work for a variety of reasons I have witnessed. The client may 'in-source' in the future. Keep on good terms.

Maybe it is a comfort that stingy clients dont include all the costs correctly when outsourcing and end up paying much more eventually. Happened to me outsourcing a small flash app to india...

It's a hell of a lot cheaper in India and the employees there are treated like factory workers of the early 1900's. I was working on an SAP project in Nigeria with 16 Indian SAP/ABAP consultants and not one of them owned a car back in India

Financially I can't compete with an Indian Dev team, however what I can provide is a product that meets your requirements, delivered on time and lastly a superior level of customer service. For this I ask that you pay me what I ask (which isn't a piss take) and respect my twenty years of being a Dev.

Most important part of software development is to know what to develop so communication is key to everything ...

Only if the specifications are 100% perfect, anyone can code it
