Currently experimenting with time management so figured I'd try setting up both Basecamp and Toggl. It's for a school project and involves a basic CMS (php CRUD etc).
Is it overkill?

Nothing is overkill if you can put it in your cv

It adds overhead which may seem like overkill for a school project, especially if it's short, and doubly so if you are solo.
On the other hand, working well with a project management tool is a must-have skill to learn, and time tracking is always useful, especially if you aim to do client work.
Both Toggl and Basecamp are simple enough, which makes them great first choices.
