"Why?" - are you too dumb to read what you have posted?

@Fast-Nop yes and it’s stupid it keeps network utilities on the phone from displaying information I need

Bearing in mind yes that that could be transmitted over the internet by the app which I feel is something the App Store should be fixing

Additionally you can randomize your Mac anyway and who the hell knows your MAC address ??

I want to see the goddamn MAC address on a network scanning app

I don’t see why I should have to fucking worry ishit is so secure

@Fast-Nop in essence there is no difference between blocking it on an iPhone and a home computer and therefore a stupid policy

Besides if someone ever figures out how to compromise the base system won’t matter anyway

"Nobody knows your MAC address" - maybe you have missed out on the last years and tracking on the internet. It's an additional item for apps to track users. And no, normal users don't randomise their MAC, nor should they do it, because the MAC is supposed to be unique.

Also, you don't need an iOS app for network monitoring. Do that on the network such as in the router. iToys are meant for consuming content, not real work.

    @Fast-Nop

" too dumb to read what you have posted?"

    He's proven that pretty regularly.

I'm not sure, but I think this has something to do with it 😏

@C0D4 already commented on that as did fast-nop

You can turn off the random Mac though, given you're not using iOS11.

@C0D4 it’s more that it’s hiding the Mac of machines connected to the hotspot that I’m annoyed at

As much as I enjoy shitting on Apple for their business practices, this is a good idea for the vast majority of use cases.

There are very few apps which legitimately need this information and huge numbers which can abuse it.

As long as the MAC is still accessible via the network settings app what's the issue?

@kwilliams Which is why you create a permission class "fingerprinting" and lock the MAC behind it. The vast majority of apps don't need the microphone, doesn't mean it should be removed.

THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN GIVING OUT MAC ADDRESS TO THE APPS TO BEGIN WITH, WHAT THE BLASTED HELL???!!! *sigh*
