Every time I fix an issue in my WordPress CSS, it seems like 3 more appear! Cascading indeed!

Because wordpress is a terrible option for almost any solution, and because it's intended for 1 thing, but people use it for everything else, your templates end up with a cluster fuck of bloated css and other shit.

You are trying to build a car while wearing a blind fold, with 1 hand tied behind your back, no tools. And the instructions on an audio book spoken in ancient Hebrew.

How many plugins do you have running?

@rtrms I disagree, wordpress is just content with taxonomies, which works for a ton of options. The problem comes in when 'developers' install a plugin for every feature they want to add instead of just doing it properly. For the most part plugins is the worst part about wordpress.

@thatgerhard it's a blog, that's all it ever was, that's all it's developers intended it and continue to intend it to be, for anything else, it's the wrong tool for the job.

1 plugin (shortcodes), once I started custom building I removed anything else from the site.

I know a lot of people hate on WordPress - but it's an important skill to know in today's market if you want to work with pre-existing websites.

I don't see it as a blog-only format, though certainly it is best suited for blogs. You could easily describe it as a server-side PHP/CSS CMS system. Which is not easily worked around without expanding knowledge of PHP functions.

End of the day, I got it working. I just need to test on a Mac, as I am one of the 1% developers on PC... 😱

@satrdaystatik I been developing for over 12 years, wordpress is as much a skill as html is a programming language. Any script kidder and his great grand mother can use it, that's why it's soo well used, it's there for those who do not know better.

@satrdaystatik I agree, modern WordPress is more like a framework than a blogging platform.. If you work for agencies clients ask for it because it's well tested and if there's a security breach it gets patched almost immediately. Yes everyone thinks they can do wordpress, but not a lot of people can do it well. :-)
