There's a special place in hell for the people responsible for PC screen menus. I'm sure they all just hate other people, this shit can only be intentional.

Are expensive screens better in that regard or do they all have this UX clusterfuck that's processed by a microchip Foxconn grabbed from their garbage can?

Some screens have a joystick for navigation, so it's better than the usual "find the correct unlabelled button" game.

@killames he means the menus of tv screens for configuring the input, which color is emphasized. The buttons are usually unlabeled or hard to read.

The menus on those things are utter garbage. I know a model that can only show the menu while it gets a video signal, but it's set to VGA by default. Then there's another one which takes like 3 seconds for the menu to appear. Or the one that constantly shuts itself off WHILE I'M STILL IN THE FUCKING MENU.

Monitor/display OSD menus.
They’re absolutely terrible. Everything about them is terrible.

You cannot access the menu unless it has a video signal. It allows overclocking the DP to 165hz, but sometimes this fails and simply refuses to work. Occasionally it detects this and asks if I want to disable the overclock, but usually? It just says the DP cable has no signal. It took me over 30 power cycles with various changes (different cables, different ports, delays, etc.) before it would ask again. And no, I cannot change the DP overclock settings when using an HDMI signal.

Also, the customizable shortcut buttons behave differently if there’s a signal or not. (I have them set to switch between inputs so I can use them with my work lappy.) After awhile of using one connection, the other simply dies and will not connect again without unplugging and sometimes cycling the display too.

It also doesn’t detect rotation so the menu is sideways for me and difficult to read.

I really hate displays, and really, really hate their OSD menus.
