You know, the whole AWS outage being caused by a typo while debugging got me thinking... whoever did that is most probably a developer who had a REALLY bad day. Could that person be on DevRant? Because the story of what the rest of that day and week was like for him or her has the chance to be the most epic rant on here ever. Poor guy/gal.

    If a typo while debugging caused the entire service to shut down, the fault lies not on a single developer.

    This would not have been a developer. Systems engineer... Yes. Developer, no.

    They mean troubleshooting when they say debugging, in this instance.

    @biskus agreed, but that doesn't mean the person wouldn't have a whole lot of guilt, and depending on management (and I heard scary things about Amazon's culture), fallout.
