Windows: Try Edge! It blocks 13% more malware than Chrome!
Me: Try using your brain! It blocks 99.4% of ALL malware!

Windows: Try Edge! It blocks 13% more malware than Chrome!
Me: Edge, you are malware: You are an unwanted piece of software installed without the user's consent, and you make annoying pop-ups.

It's actually not bad. For an average user, if I am setting up their computer I just leave edge as default now. It's less memory intensive too. Not bad I'd say. Plus Google too aggressively advertises Chrome on their properties.

Aggreed. Chrome is to bloated, unstable and slow

@flag0 I'va argued this a lot, but personally, I find ads on my OS much more offensive than on a webpage. Plus you can close the ad once on googles sites and never see it again but Edge doesn't seem to want to shut the fuck up no matter how many times I close that fucking annoying popup.

And @Linux I have used both (I like the GUI of Edge better) a lot and while Chrome is bloated and slow, it is most definitely not more unstable. Edge has crashed for me doing simple tasks more times than I care to put a number to. And for slow, I dont see a massive difference... Webpage performance (Animations, logic, etc) seems to be faster than edge, even. It gobbles ram but is that even an issue today? My 5 year old laptop has 15gb, and it came that way.

I've literally seen an ad for edge in the OS once and that was some time ago. Nor has my default browser been changed to edge or anything like that.

@AlgoRythm also true. Edge isn't as feature rich as and somewhat unstable compared to Chrome. That said i really like what ms is doing with edge. I personally can't use edge (syncing, dev tools + extension and the fact that my daily driver is Linux based) but for average user i would really love them to use edge. Plus it is actually standard compliant, fast and features compared to safari and IE

@wahr Are you using a laptop or desktop?

@AlgoRythm currently laptop but my desktop at home didn't display anything like that either. I last used it half a year ago (at uni dorms right now, can't bring it unfortunately)

@AlgoRythm I have seen screenshots of people showing the edge is faster pop-ups but I personally haven't seen one on either my laptop either

@flag0 Since upgrade to Win X i would estimate I have gotten 10-15 of the damn things.

I've had Windows 10 for 1 1/2 years, never had a pop-up that advertised edge

Actually, I think it's a quite decent browser, I still wouldn't use it, mainly because I'm running Linux now
