@Demolishun There is no reason to assume that a rewrite would be better - that's a common dev illusion.

Actually, it would likely be worse because Linux was born when being a dev still was geeky and required dedication.

@Fast-Nop Yeah, I am thinking some sort of Linux variant that doesn't feel like a Linux variant. The problem would be getting mainstream games on the platform. Winblows seriously needs a competitor. I should probably take a look at steam os.

@IntrusionCM I tried to get some impression of it for desktop use, and I concluded that the BSD community doesn't give a fuck. For that use case, it's behind where Linux was a whopping 20 years ago.

That's where you end up when you remove the so-called "bloat" in Linux.
