designer: the distance from the baseline of the letter "p" to the bottom of the box should be 150px exactly. You are 4px off.

me: Erm... baseline?

designer: Yes. Not the "base" or the "beardline". It must be the "baseline" of the font.

me: uh huh....

designer: And it must be the same in all browser, chrome, firefox, internet explorer

me: Orite, lets save the whole Psd and <img src="whole-website.jpg"> Tada!

There are 3 types of designers: interaction, visual and technical...

I have a grudge for the first to types and love the last.

The one you speak of is a visual designer: they make a Photoshop image and say "it has to look exactly like this! What do you mean this box can't have 1.5px width!?"

@Letmecode I get your point, but I bring to my teams pretty good technical and interaction designers because I believe that it is important for the end-user's experience.

I just hate graphical designers that believe they can do multimedia design. They can but only after understanding that designing a website or mobile app is different from designing an event poster... Also the "buhu I designed it differently and it's my design that makes the site" atitude gets in my nerves.

It's a team effort, if you can't work with my team you can't work in my projects...

My designers and I have come to a very special agreement.

Rule 1: give me hard parameters, do not give me intangible nonsense. Give me the value of the colors you used etc.

Rule 2: your sizes and mine are not the same, things will look slightly different.

Rule 3: if you aren't sure if something is possible, ask me first before you tell the client I can do it. Most things are possible, but many are not cost effective to do.

Keep to these rules and we're good. It has been a glorious last few months with this understanding.

The frustration happens when they have this angsty request with no hint of humbleness that what they design in psd must MUST MUUUUUST translate equally to the web. And when we tell them different browsers works differently and they will say,"there is such a thing as browser specific css right? You can target firefox, chrome, safari different right?"

    Wah.. makes my blood boil..
