manually set a bigger page file (virtual memory), it will make things work but you will lose a bit of performance. make sure that c: partition has at least 15gb free. photoshop uses a lot of hdd too when its running. by itself windows should not restart. maybe your ram is not working right. do a memtest. google it :)

As @IgorDotNinja said, Virtual memory should solve your issue.

The common values are as follow: x1.5 your RAM as minimum and x3 as maximum.

Photoshop uses a huge amount of your drive c when it's doing stuff, and personally I've experienced 10 gb to be insufficient at times. Make sure you have enough free space in drive c. (15 gb is recommended)

If you get "*scratch disk*" error, the reason is this.

Virtual memory triggers this warning, as mentioned above. All the advice on setting the values above is good, but to actually get to the screen:

    On windows 8 or above:
Press Win + x, select system from the context menu
    Windows 7:
Open start, right click computer, then select properties.

Select advanced options on the left hand side
    Select performance
    Select the virtual memory tab
Untick 'allow windows to manage this blah blah blah'
Select the desired drive, select manual and enter an amount, press set.

Please note the difference between these fields.
The first field sets the amount of page the computer will have initially (at boot)
The second field sets the maximum amount of storage windows can use as a page file.

How much ram do you have ?

@RhysOC thats how much i have. i have a small ssd. and when it gets low i get photoshop scratch disk problems (temporary disk space that photoshop uses). if im annoyed by the error i just move that scratch disk to another drive (but then photoshop runs a little slower because that other drive is slower)
