I got my first offer letter and they gave me more than my asking salary. I have been waiting for a year and half for this moment. Nothing can kill this feeling. I have been doing jobs I hate for my whole life. And finally I am able to do what I want and kick off my career. This is awesome.

After the euphoria, take this opportunity to plan financially.

Set a budget for both spending and saving. Set quarterly savings goals.

Financially plan for your retirement and how much you want to send to your 401k or Roth.

In my past, I wish I would have saved more. Most my raises were 15-20% increases until I met my top salary. With those increases my lifestyle changed drastically.

As of right now I'm not saving much, some is going into my retirement but most goes towards maintaining a family.

The short rule is; don't live above your means, but it helps you down the road if you try to live below them instead of on them.

Best of luck to you, and congrats on your successful journey so far.

Great advice. My fiancé and I have already talked about that as well. We will continue living the way we do while using extra money for debt and savings along with retirement and a Roth IRA.

I appreciate the feedback and advice! A lot of people change their whole lifestyle and have nothing to show for it or any type of back up plan.
