Doesn't anyone use slackware anymore?
I had good experiences with Porteus on old computers, from centrinos to atom.
Very fast and light, easily configurable and just the barebones essentials -
Oh well they discontinued the build system. It was great for kiosk mode, gave away a lot of pcs with it installed :(

Do you want to use it to work or surf the web? If the latter I'd suggest cloudready, it's kind of like chrome OS, pretty light.
I installed on my dad's old Asus (it's like 10+ years old) and it runs great. Windows 7 and Linux mint ran pretty slow after some time on it but cloudready is doing well -
athlon172468y@eeeddr Well I'm trying to run it, but every time I do I can use mouse for like 5 seconds and then it's stuck

I'd say try installing arch with the lightest desktop environment you can find. If it's only for kodi then you won't need any of the crap that usually comes with the other OS'
Linux Mint MATE, Lubuntu or something else for this old PC?

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
