Ison1093yThis guy (the manager) is an idiot and not good at his job.
The worst thing you can do as a manager is to set impossible deadlines. Why is this the worst?
1. It fucks with morale.
2. You give out promises to clients that you actually can't keep. This damages the company's reputation.
3. You don't leave room for errors/refactoring/testing/feedback. -

It's not your problem. It's their problem and they'll face it when they have to explain to customers why they fucked up.

djeddiej843y@Frederick I (kind of) take offense to that. I rose through the ranks as a developer (not in Alabama) and I am now a “technical” manager (pretty much CTO) for a small company - I understand first hand the pain points that a developer encountered with management that did not have a proper mind-set. I always believed if you were going to manage teams of developers , you better have been a developer yourself. I discourage work in the last two weeks of December for that reason - and make sure the product and project managers can schedule and set client expectations accordingly. But yeah I am all in support at complaining when management is not doing things right - and that even includes me :p

@djeddiej I have worked once with a manager who has a similar technical background.
For me, that was the best experience that I had in my career and I wouldn't leave that company if he stayed.

I don't know how managers are planning deadlines and counting December as a full working month!
Most companies that I worked with, count either half a month or push the deadline until the end of January when the workforce is back but not here.
Our division manager has promised the customer that the production environment will be ready on the first week of January, without even consulting the team or checking the schedule like WTF!
The person responsible for setting the infrastructure was on vacation for 2 weeks and he didn't hand over the access to production or share the progress done.
Fast forward, the manager went to slack and pinged the whole company with full caps message that the production should be done today.
Fun times :/
