Awesome. Congratulations. Hope you still get to code and the administrative work doesn't take much of your time.

klekih13268y@yendenikhil thx. For the moment it's 70% for the code, 30% for admin. I expect the numbers will swap on the long run as the team grows.
-
@tomeb I was afraid of that. Had happened to me in last job. Especially working for consulting firm, they need administrative people who can sell than people who can create thibgs. So had to quit. Now back to dev work.

donuts236728y@yendenikhil sorta happened to me too although I kinda liked it...
It was a team of 1... I was given full control over all the code in our client facing apps... Being dictator was great... Most of the time -
klekih13268y@yendenikhil I totally understand if you're very passioned on code. Nevertheless, a direction towards management can be rewarding, too.
-
@billgates I too liked it to begin with. This power over minions is very enticing. But after a while, the extra which comes with them takes you to ride. I started to get frustrated on my minions as they get to have more coding than me. It is weird feeling for sure.
@tomeb of course it can be very rewarding. Especially if you want to climb corporate ladder it is important. Also, it allows you to make bigger impact (for better or worse).
Having said that, I now prefer to groom the minds of young minions to instill good habits of coding and to make them interested and excited. I like this direction. I don't have any minions anymore, but now building generations of developers. And when I say building, I meant small small part of guidance nothing more (not yet that arrogant as I have to learn a lot more still.). -
klekih13268y@yendenikhil one difficult thing I have is that most of my colleagues are my age or older so I it's different than with the junior and internship ones.
-
@tomeb I agree. But you will get used to it sooner. I had many who were almost double of my age because they moved from non tech to technical careers and such.
