    Ah i see. Another stallman monologue.

    I thought the Amazon thing was removed / disabled by default ? Is there anything else ?

    @darksideplease
    Well, people complained over MS that does it, but turns a blind eye to canonical.
    It is called hypocrisy

    Spyware or not, there are plenty of other distros.

    @samfreeman05
    It was removed in 16:04. But my trust is gone.
  • 2
    Isn't it all open source? Can't you check the code?

    @Linux My point is not ignoring that canonical does it. My point is that stallman is always posting these "epics" where he uses too much words to get to the point. I know my argument sounds stupid, but i do not want read his brainfarts, i want to read solid, concise arguments.

    @darksideplease I really question people that cut their toenails on stage

    It used to be Spyware, however in versions including and past LTS 16.04 they removed the features that spy on you.

    @nickpapoutsis I believe people confuse security and open source.

    In the way "we believe someone capable has checked", but in reality between human error and the small amount of people who actually check, things like heart bleed might happen again.
  • 2
    @Linux Your name better be GNU/Linux
  • 1
    @ggromx I know the difference.

    However, it's much easier to check for Amazon "telemetry" than heart bleed bugs.

    Plus, if no-one really checks the code then why is open source better than closed source?

    @nickpapoutsis are they... All?

    My point isn't against open software nor closed software is against generalization and taking things for granted.

    Sometimes we assume too much.

    Ex: "it's open source and everyone is using it, it must be better than x."

    At the same time, I don't mean to be rude. Apologies if you thought it was a direct comment against you.
