I installed WhatsApp after 7.5 years.

My family forced me to do so because they make all the plans there and I am left out.

I am strictly using it for family and specifically for cousins while ignoring everyone else.

While the group is inactive except for when we all meet (which is once or twice a year).

I am also on Instagram which is 99% of the time deactivated and the only reason I have it is when I did my backpack, I met some real awesome people and the only way to stay in touch with them was via Instagram. Too bad that I did not have it then.

Yes, you can hate me for doing this. But I need to get this off my chest here. I am integrated with Meta ecosystem, but I am making sure I tread carefully and take all measures to protect myself from any kind of damage.

    It sucks to be pushed on a platform by group pressure. I also missed some travel friends by not being on platform X, but not being in the family group could be considered a plus..

    @saucyatom I know. I am only using it for family group chat where we plan shit.

    Last time there was a huge misunderstanding followed by some exclusivity where my relationship with my family was damaged very badly.

    We are a very closely knit and after that incident I realised who were the real ones or atleast sane ones I can count on.

    Turns out that there are few rotten apples who exclude me entirely just because I am not cool per their standards while there are some who only try to extort money from me.

    There are some good members who go over and beyond for me and in fact everyone. Those are the ones for whom I am part of the club and they inspire me to be a better person each day.

    Feeling bad for using Zuckerberg products needs a name. Analogous to flight-shaming for the bad feel when using air craft I would call it meta-shaming.

    Don't all these platforms cause cancer?

    @Demolishun emotional cancer for sure.

    Everytime I happen to use it I see how dated it is. Telegram or Discord look and feel so much slicker.

    @possum yes, the UX and even the functional aspect of any Meta products are horrible to use. It's a pain to be part of that ecosystem.

    @Floydimus had to open facebook recently for some reason, and was trying to add a friend.. I had to spend like 15 minutes to just figure out, how to do that on desktop.

    Isn't it kind of funny how bad meta fucked up the platform they grew up with?

    They seem to do that with every single product, they have..

    @thebiochemic yes, agreed.

    However, my dislike for Meta and Amazon is more towards because their ethics and intentions and less towards their products.

    But that doesn't mean that their products are not shit. Lol
