    @electrineer only suckers.

i ditched skype long ago, because after microsoft bought it, it became more and more awful by the minute.

The ui of Skype made me feel like a complete idiot all the time because I never found what i was looking for. Can't really tell why. Thank god, there are alternatives yet.

@electrineer > "Who even uses Skype these days"

Me and my entire family. Way easier for me to support than most anything out there.

Not saying there are not better apps out there, but 99% of my family would still call me "The app says, 'press any key to continue' where is the 'any key'?"

Last night, my wife yells at me from the other room:

W: "I wanted to read a news article on xyz.com, something popped up on my phone, what do I do!?"

Me: "Probably wanting you to accept cookies. That site is fine, just hit OK"

    W: "Yea, cookies, but I can't."

Me: "What do you mean, you can't?"

    W: "Won't let me"

Me: "Then hit the X or continue or cancel. Whatever it takes."

W: "It won't let me! I'm not stupid, get in here and fix this phone!"

<I head to the living room, take look, its an accept cookie pop-up with and 'Accept' button. I hit 'Accept'>

W: "You told me to hit 'OK' or 'Continue', not 'Accept'. I thought you knew how computers worked"

Lately I have been using Skype a lot for work and it is still better than Zoom and others.

    Obviously better than Teams

I stopped considering Slack and use Discord but not for work

Back to the original rant, the problem of anxiety is caused by people on the other side, not by the app itself

@rov3rand0m but you know Skype is from MS so you must says that sucks, otherwise you're not cool here... I loved it for personal use till 2 years ago when was still native on Windows, than they decided to move to the "amazing" slow and heavy web based version, so I stopped to use it, there was no point anymore... Now whatsapp (beta) finally is great with a native windows app
