Daily scrum is fucking OVERKILL.

If you feel that way you would probably prefer a kanban style team. Discuss it with your scrum master maybe?

It's a client so...our team has weekly meetings, the client wants daily stand-ups.

I always humor agile BS meetings. Sometimes it actually helps. Other times it is a complete waste of time. Identify which ones work, and which ones don't. Make sure the team know what does not work, so you can get rid of it, or change it. This is the essence of Agile: get rid of what does not work quickly....

Daily standups are like brushing your teeth. I don't like it, but it prevents problems from festering if left unchecked for too long; forcing you to have a surgical operation down the line.

Though you have to do it right, keep it short 10-15 mins and don't discuss things which shouldn't be.

Yeah, I get the whole daily gloss over make sure shit is not left unchecked stuff, but sometimes I feel like saying "for the 3rd time this fucking week I'm creating an ETL process for the DW!!!! Fuck!!!!!" Just because. I mean, let me amass some kind of work before you set up an early as all fucks meeting for me to repeat my damn self. It's fucking annoying. I know it's necessary (I guess), but to me it's a bit over the top.
